Pytanie #1:
Organic Chemistry or Physical Chemistry? I'm taking physical right now, but it's soo hard. I took the prerequisite years ago so I'm not too familiar with certain things. Would it be better to switch to organic chemistry and take it in the long term (as opposed to condensed summer term, which is what I'm taking right now)?
Pytanie #2:
I know using Newtonian physics alone we can predict the course of all objects.
With chemistry, we can predict how molecules interact.
With physics, we can predict how atoms interact.
The only thing we can't predict is where around the nucleus of the atom the electrons are. This is irrelevant though because we can still determine how that electron will interact with other atoms in certain circumstances.
Existence consists of mass and energy. We know how to predict how they interact.
Cellular organism are just molecular machines, natural nano-bots. There just machines, complex mechanisms. If we're made of cells, aren't we just machines? Very, very complex chemical clocks? Free will then violates physics. So then the entire history of the universe was set at the big bang. How can there be souls without free will, and how can there be a god without souls?
Is this a valid trail of though?
Spelling Correction: Is this a valid train of thought?

I am just getting started in chemistry, didn't take it in High school. From my understanding the periodic table is a list of all the substances in the universe, that can be broken down to it's element. uranium is an element, and plutonium is made from uranium from my understanding. Why is it on the Periodic table. Is it because it has a number of atoms that can't be found anywhere in the universe, unless you synthesis them?
question 2: how do you combine elements, is it through heat?

Pytanie #13:
I'm currently entering my senior year of high school. Over the past 3 years, I've been juggling with a bunch of college majors, but I always seem to come back to pharmacy. After taking physics last year, I realized that engineering was not going to be my cup of tea. I love biology and chemistry, which had finally led to my decision to pursue a PharmD degree.
I really need some advice on what the best method is to pursue this degree. I'm going to list my basic high school stats at the end of this post because I understand that pharmacy is a competitive program, often with no guarantees. I live in New Jersey, so Rutgers would be my only option for in-state programs if I go with the 0-6 program. Is 0-6 worth it? Would it be better for me to go to another state college (Rowan or Stockton for example) or a private institution where I could receive a great deal of scholarship money for two years before applying for pharmacy school? How about out of state programs like Northeastern, Rhode Island, or USP?
I know the benefit of 0-6 programs is the guarantee (under most circumstances) of being accepted into the school's PharmD program, but is it worth spending the cash for two years of pre-reqs?
High school stats: SAT: 680 M, 660 CR, 650 W
GPA: 3.9/4.0 (unweighted) - Rank: 3/401
At least 4 honors/AP courses each year - Total of 8 AP classes taken before graduation.
Do EC's matter? I've done a lot of community service work, but I haven't volunteered at a hospital or interned at a pharmacy yet.
Thank you in advance for any advice/personal experience(s) you could share with me.

I'm doing this for a summer assignment for Honors chemistry next year, and I need an idea for a good experiment to do.
We have to set up the lab in a specific format too, with background information a purpose(or problem), hypothesis, and then materials, procedure, data/observations, calculations/Results(when needed), and a Conclusion.
I just need a good experiment to be able to record all the info I need, like I need a problem and do an experiment for it. 'Cause I know there are many great chemistry experiments like online (like sodium acetate, and crystals and how to make slime) but I need one with a problem, like what chemicals change color when certain things are added. Something like that, and I'm kind of stumped on ideas for it, so any ideas would greatly help!!!

This year I will be a junior. I moved away from my hometown in the middle of my sophomore year. Doing this, I missed the last 2 months of my geometry class, and that was also when we discussed trigonometry. In 9th grade I took living enviroment (like biology). Also, when I moved, I took IPC (Integrated Physics and Chemistry), and we touched up on both of those subjects.
This year I will be doubling up on math AND science. All being AP courses.
For science I will be taking AP Biology. And also, I will skip Pre AP Chemistry and go straight to Chemistry.
Math, I will be taking AP Algebra II, and also Pre AP Pre Cal.
I maintain A's in almost all classes, and have almost never taken homework home.
I know this is a lot of info but I wanted to try to be specific(: Should I downgrade in any classes? And how hard do you think this will be? Any helpful tips, information, website, ect would also be helpful.

A guy friend of mine told me he senses some kind of chemistry with a friend of his (a girl) when they hang out. He says he doesnt like her, and considers her unattractive and can't see them being together. But what's with the chemistry? Is all chemistry romantic/ sexual? BTW this friend of his admitted she has feelings for him, but he just got out of a relationship and is not interested in pursuing anything with her. Is the chemistry they feel coming from her liking him, even tho he only sees her as a good friend? Is this something that may work in the future when he's more ready, since there is chemistry?
He said he has always felt that connection to her as they've been friends for a very long time, but never felt attracted to her beyond that.
Could it be that he doesn't realize yet that her DOES have feelings for her without knowing it??
I found it so interesting that he's going through this, and would appreciate your input!

Pytanie #26:
I recently decided to put myself up on one of those dating sites and opened a profile. After a few days I started on it, I saw several other profiles that caught my attention. One guy sent me a message and we started chatting; we both liked each other through pics. After many nights of chats we decided to meet. We did, it was charming. A great guy! He texted me first so I got excited that he was pretty much letting me know he liked meeting me in person. The next few dates went out as planned. Firstm a nice dinner, the second date a nice dinner, drinks and a few kisses. The third date, dinner and more kisses and we ended up cuddling at his place watching a movie. No sex, or bj's, but lots of touching until the sun came up (he was pretty excited and me too, but we talked about the sex and we both agreed that it was too soon). We felt very compatible. We would send texts to each other during the day or so and he told me that he felt a lot of chemistry with me...
After our third date, I knew he had to leave town to work on a personal project so I sort of let him "do his thing" for a while; no texts or e-mails, or just a quick hi (he's not much of a phone talker). We had planned to meet right before his trip but he cancelled on me twice due to his inminent plans and how he had to "clear his head" before this big event. I understood....but after the two cancellations he stopped texting. Which is ok, I'm not the kind of "psycho" or crazy woman that would over analize a guy. I sent him a couple of casual texts until he replied. He said that he wanted to see me when he was back. That was it. He wasn't as expressive as before, or sounded so interested in seeing me again; just plain and simple "thank you" . Right before, he was pretty into seeing me....now, to clarify something, the guy seems lazy (only likes to get out when absolutely necessary) but he was just a tad more interested at the beginning.
Right before he left, I noticed he erased his profile at the dating website...don't really know what to think..but I came up with these four:
-Either he is really preocuppied by this project of his; cant think of anything else now but his job
-He's just not that into me
-He wants to get rid of me
-He wants to wait-he's analizing the relationship.
After reading that book of "not that into you" I got severely scared...he's not that into me; but he kept replying to my e-mails ( i sent him one just to wish him luck), he replied a little late, but did and said "very sweet" ...no texts anymore...and we sort of left it at "we will definitely see other again".
What should I do, guys? I REALY Like this guy. I'm an adult, don't like to play games and I am a very stable woman in my early 30's (he's too).
Thanks for your advise and look forward to see what you all have to say. I think I'm starting to sound psycho...
Wow, you guys have been incredibly helpful and so kind. Honestly, I feel a little more at ease...I will give him the benefit of the doubt (haha like in the movie) but I really enjoyed reading all the comments and the last guy's perspective!
Much love to you all and wish me luck :)

Oh gosh, I'm starting A level chemistry in September, and I suck!

Okay, don't answer that.
Please please PLEASE, could you guys give me some links to good revision websites?

My boyfriend and I go way back 4 years. We met during a summer camp and had amazing chemistry! We kept close for about a year and him phoning me saying that he would move closer if him and I would date. I turned him down because I was 17 and didnt know much about love. Then a couple years went by and we didn't talk all that much. Time went on, I got a boyfriend and he got a girlfriend and he ended it with his girlfriend because he joined the army. He moved to to where I live and we started to hang out. All of that summer love chemistry came back. Within a month my boyfriend dumped me out of no where. About a 2 months later, we started dating. Unsure at first but it turned out well. We have been dating for almost a year (in October) although I have only seen him for 4 months out of that year because he is in afghanistan. Although we are stronger than ever and very much in love. Our love is still growing and we are going on to turning 22.
I was wondering if it is too soon to get engaged? I have never been happier and more in love. We have amazing chemistry still. I would be VERY willing to marry him but all my friends and my brothers had been dating 2-4 years and Iand him only less than a year and we are talking about engagement. Is this odd??

Pytanie #37:
I was kicked out of school for a fight that I didn't initiated. Few boys from my school jumped me one day on my way back home and started a fight. Not to brag but they were not aware that I am a martial arts expert and they were pretty badly bruised. The reason for the fight was over a girl who I was helping to study chemistry and was misunderstood by her boyfriend. Its been only 4 months since I joined this school and she was really friendly and seeked help for chemistry.
After the fight, I was kicked out of the school because it was my word against theirs and I lost. Everybody in the school started hating me and pegged me as a "loner", which honestly I am. Well, the truth came out after a month and I was readmitted to the school. There started my problems! Everyone started giving me a cold shoulder treatment and I was like a social pariah , which was fine by me since honestly I didn't have any friends. My daily routine was to go to school, study, practice my martial arts and hang out with my brother. I don't live with my parents but with my elder brother who is in the marines. During the month I was expelled, my brother who is the only friend I got, wanted me to take some time off and stay at home and cool off. He also sat me down one day to discuss how worried he was since I didn't go out and make friends and have fun.
The day I re-joined school, the guys that I had a fight with started bugging me and have been after me and they are hell bent to seek revenge. Honestly, I don't care if they get me again, but, is it right to give them a good hard hitting this time, since, now I am seriously pissed off. The girl who I was helping blames me for picking up the fight and I am horrible talking to girls. I don't have a girlfriend and again honestly I don't think any girl would be interested in going out with me.
So, what the hell am I? A loner ..I don't want to injure those guys but if they don't stop coming after me, is it right to retaliate?

1. A 15.00 mL sample of white wine was analyzed for total SO2 concentration using the procedure outlined in this experiment. In the titration 32.13 mL of 5.00 x 10-4 M iodine solution was required to reach the endpoint. Calculate the molar concentration of the total SO2 in the wine.
2. Calculate the molarity, percent by volume, percent by weight, and parts per million of a solution that has 1.18 x 102 mL of ethanol in a 2.0 L solution. The density of ethanol is 0.798 g/mL. Use the table on page 9 of the lab in order to determine the specific gravity of the solution. Consider specific gravity and density to be equivalent.
3. A sample of wine was diluted 1:10 and analyzed for alcohol content using a colorimeter. A calibration curve was created from a set of standard solutions, producing a plot of absorbance vs. percent alcohol. The calibration curve had a slope of 8.067 x 10-2 with an intercept of 6.027 x 10-3. Keeping in mind that you diluted the wine sample by a factor of 10, what is the percent by volume of alcohol in your sample if the absorbance of your sample was 0.593?
Anyone able to help me out on how to go through the process of figuring these out?

-In the straight-chain form of glucose (the diagram I am referring to can be found here:

-How does the straight-chain form of glucose concur with the ring form (the diagram I am referring to can be found here:
Click Here )? Shouldn't the aldehyde at reference point 1 on the straight-chain form be together in the ring form? And why is there an oxygen atom at one corner of the hexagon when there are carbons at all of the others?
These questions probably don't make much sense, so I'm very sorry. Anything you explain regarding monosaccharides, glucose, glucose's structure, etc. is extremely appreciated.
Lastly, please note that this isn't for homework. I will not be taking credit for any of your answers. I'm simply curious and want to understand glucose and its structure a bit more. I haven't taken chemistry yet so I don't know that much.

You know, online dating is a waste of time if you date keep fixated on just "one person a time". Some take way too long to have a first meet, only to find out there's no chemistry. Some never intend to meet, just fishing for compliments. And some are just plain players or cheaters.
But if you talk to/date multiple people: how not to appear like a player yourself? I mean I'm a sincere guy and I don't want to play with others' feelings or waste their time either. How should I do it?
I put this in LGBT because I'm a gay guy (in a small town) so I hope you can understand the situation more. Thanks!

I've had a crush on this guy for six months now. The problem is he lives far away (I will be moving closer to him in a year) so it's kind of difficult to play hard to get. I'm 24 and hes 25, so we're not that young...anyway, I've been talking to him through text and internet ever since I spent two days with him in February (as just friends nothing happened, we were with another couple) I was always the one to initiate the conversations. Well I just visited my aunt who lives near him and before I went (2 weeks before) I let him know the dates I'd be down there and told him to call me if he wanted to get together. Well, he texted me the first day I got there saying "Florida!!" and then it was small talk, he had to work the rest of the week. I left my phone at my aunts for two days, by mistake, and the day I got back which was Friday i had two missed text messages from him, one at 9am saying, "Have any plans for tonight" and one at 3pm "marlins game at 7?" needless to say I texted him saying I'd love to go, we went out to the game then to dinner, had a great time and then the next day I texted him saying, "I have to know and I need you to be completely honest, do you see us as just being friends or is there a chance there could be something more between us?" and he never responded. That was more than a week ago. Did I blow my chance? (Well I know I did) but is there any way to salvage this? I mean I know some of you might think I sound desperate, but there was definite chemistry between us and it's extremely hard to find guys like this one...Sorry if this was too long

The Latest Big 3, with James, Wade, and Bosh is obviously lethal since you got the MVP and the 3rd best player as well as a top 15 player starring on one team. Hate to admit it, but this team WILL win championships. Don't think they're good enough to beat the Lakers or any team with lots of size this year, so I don't think they'll be winning a championship this year, but I predict that they'll win 3 championships during the 5 years they're together, once they get some chemistry and when Kobe and the Lakers start to decline, because I don't see anybody being able to challenge them. Pytanie #49:
a couple months ago i told a guy i liked him and he liked me too but we didnt go out or anything, we just kept things as they were. the base of our relationship was texting, which i know was bad, but we still saw each other and stuff so it wasnt THAT bad. during the beginning of summer i didnt see him at all, but i still liked him since we texted so much and all. but yesterday i was hanging out with him and realized we have NO chemistry at all, and that i really dont like him in that way. now im scared to tell him because i feel like ive wasted all of his time :( PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me figure out how to tell him that i dont like him and were just friends
